Defunct Philadelphia Nightclubs to Pay $7M in Wrongful Death Settlement

arbitrationTwo Philadelphia nightclubs will pay $7 million in wrongful death settlement to the family of 23-year-old Kevin Kless, who was beaten to death on January 14, 2012.

The lawsuit alleged that Kless was trying to hail a taxi at 4th and Market streets when a cab drove by, without stopping for him. He was cursing the taxi, however, three drunk men, Kenneth Enriquez-Santiago, Felix Carrillo and Steven Ferguson, thought he was cursing them and beat him to death.

According to the lawsuit, the defunct nightclubs Lucy’s Hat Shop and G Lounge served Kenneth Enriquez-Santiago, Felix Carrillo and Steven Ferguson beyond the point of intoxication, even though, two of them were underage.

In the settlement announced on April 15, Lucy’s Hat Shop will pay $1 million while G Lounge will pay $6 million through their respective insurance policies.
